ACTIVITIES

Numerous outdoor activities are possible in our region. Your can contact our partners directly and consult their programme on www.horizonvertical.net for climbing and caving.

   

The starting points for hikes in the mountains are within easy reach ( approx.15 mn ). The main routes are the climb up Mont Valier and Crabère with the possibility of spending the night in the refuges. For more information on Mont Valier , consult  www.ariege.com/refuge-estagnous

Walks along the trekking path GR 10 are also very easy to get to from the nearby Biros and Bethmale valleys.

The "Saint Jacques de Compostelle" path  ( GR 78 ) passes through our village. It is one of several lovely walks you can do from here without needing to get in the car.

CYCLING

Almost every year the Tour de France passes through Ariege. The roads here are for the sporty.We are very close to the famous passes of La Core and Portet d'Aspet.There are also mountain bike routes around Alas in the mountains.

                                                    FISHING

The rivers in Ariege are renowed for trout fishing with 80 % of them rated as first class.

Come to tickle the trout along the rivers Lez or Bouigane.

There are many things to see in our region and we will be pleased to help you. Here on this page are a few examples of various interesting things to see in the area.

The city of Saint Lizier is classed as one of the most beautiful villages in France.Visit the bishops palace with is museum, the cathedral and his cloister, a master piece of roman art.

The region Couserans is part of a circuit to discover roman art in Ariege and various beautiful chapels are to be found in our villages. The tourist offices regularly organise visits.
